Jun 7th, 2010 by Lynn DeVries

While Bones star Emily Deschanel is enjoying a very successful career in acting, her younger sister Zooey Deschanel is also in the midst of a very successful acting and music career. Zooey is half of the leaders for the group She & Him, along with her music partner M. Ward.

On May 31, She & Him performed at the Sasquatch Music Festival. Here are some great photos of her on stage:

Bones: Completely Updated Cast Bios
Jun 1st, 2010 by Lynn DeVries

I finally got a bit of time to go through each of the main Bones cast bios to update the information in them. Then I got very ambitious and made bio pages for the interns and the recurring cast of Bones.

I realize that it’s slightly risky to do all of them, since some my not be in the new season, but we’ve grown to like them all enough that I hope you will enjoy the bios for each of them. Here are all of the new and updated cast bios:

Bones: What the Cast is Doing on Their Summer Vacation
May 30th, 2010 by Lynn DeVries

Bones star David Boreanaz, aka FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth, shot a film last year called The Mighty Macs. It’s expected to be released later this year. This time, he’s in a role very different from the ones we are all accustomed to seeing him play. He’ll play the part of a slightly chauvinistic husband of a pioneering women’s basketball coach.

By the looks of the movie’s official trailer, it might be a big hit. We should probably bring tissues with us to the theater, since we may shed a tear or two. Take a look:

Emily Deschanel, aka Dr. Temperance Brennan

This summer, Emily Deschanel has a new project underway. While Bones is on break, Emily will be shooting a movie called Perfect Family. She’ll be in a major role in this film, unlike her small role in last year’s movie My Sister’s Keeper. Here’s a short synopsis of the film:

“A devoutly Catholic wife and mother has been nominated for one of the church’s top awards. She then goes about trying to prove she has the “perfect” family, refusing to accept them for who they are.”

The film also stars Jason Ritter and Kathleen Turner and is expected to release in 2012. You can read what Emily has to say about doing a film during her time off this summer in an interview she did with a number of us yesterday.

TJ Thyne & Tamara Taylor, aka Dr. Jack Hodgins & Dr. Camille Saroyan

[Photo: © 2010 FOX Broadcasting Co.]

TJ Thyne, who plays Hodgins on Bones, has a movie expected out later this year in which he plays a priest. His character for this film is quite different from the fun loving but conspiracy theory touting character he plays on Bones. Here’s a bit of a description for the film:

“‘The Pardon’ is the incredible true story of Toni Jo Henry, a story of love and despair, of hope and redemption, found in the only woman ever to be electrocuted by the State of Louisiana.”

But TJ, who always seems to have multiple projects hatching at once, is also currently working on a film called Shuffle. There is no available information about the film’s plot, but there are rumors that Tamara Taylor, who plays Dr. Cam Saroyan on Bones, is part of the movie’s cast too.

[Photo: © 2010 FOX Broadcasting Co.]

There’s a third movie in the works for TJ too. This film could be a big box-office hit, since it also stars Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Laurence Fishburne. It’s called The Last Full Measure and it may be out late this year. Here’s a summary of its plot:

“An ambitious government bureaucrat is given an unwelcome assignment that could harm his carefully orchestrated career, to complete a long-unfinished report on whether the nation’s highest award for bravery should, after 40 years, be given to a fallen hero. His investigation leads him down a path he could not have imagined and changes his life and the lives of others in the process.”

John Francis Daley, aka Dr. Lance Sweets

[Photo: © 2010 FOX Broadcasting Co.]

And last, but certainly not least is John Francis Daley, who plays Dr. Lance Sweets on Bones. His Bones character is a case of art imitating life, or vice-versa. No, he’s not really a psychologist, but like Sweets, he’s a writer.

John has written six screenplays that are in various stages of development. The film that is the furthest along in the creation process is called Horrible Bosses. It sounds like a fun ride, since this is what it’s about:

“Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness.”

The other five screenplays he’s written are named The $40,000 Man, Hours of Fun, Vacation, Cal of the Wild and Burt Wonderstone. Even from these titles, it’s a sure bet that John is great at writing comedies. I can’t wait to see these films because they all sound terrific.

So it looks as if the cast of Bones always manages to stay busy, even when the series is taking a break. With so many very talented cast members, that’s no big surprise.

Yesterday, FOX network held their Upfront presentation where they announced all the new shows coming to FOX and the returning series. We already knew that Bones would be back for season 6, but it’s great to hear it again anyway.

Here are some photos of Emily Deschanel & David Boreanaz at the party afterward. I absolutely LOVE her haircut!! It’s very stylish!!

Bones: Interview with Emily Deschanel & Hart Hanson
May 12th, 2010 by Lynn DeVries

Yesterday, a number of us got to take part in a conference call interview with Bones star Emily Deschanel and Bones creator Hart Hanson. They filled us in on things we can still look forward to this season and were a lot of fun. Here’s the entire transcript of the interview. [You may also be interested in last week's interview with the inspiration for Bones, Kathy Reichs.]

Q: What kind of impact will the final two episodes have on the Booth-Brennan relationship?

Hart Hanson: We had an interesting dilemma this year. We sort of had two big finale type shows this year because we wanted the 100th episode to ring on the Booth-Brennan relationship. Lo and behold, the season finale has to live up to that or at least be as interesting as the 100th. I think we were fairly successful in getting an interesting episode out of our 100th episode. Emily, you’ll have interrupt me if I start to blab too much. I think our season ender, in its own way, has as much impact on the future of the show as the 100th episode did. Was that oblique enough?

Emily Deschanel: I think you said it accurately. “Was it oblique enough?” Yes. We can’t give too much away, you see. What happens in the season finale is as impactful for the relationship as the 100th episode was. There’s a lot to live up to after the 100th episode. I think Hart did a really good job writing the script.

Q: Do you usually hear anything from the fans about the storylines?

Hart Hanson: We definitely hear from our fans. I’ve talked to a few other show runners and I think we have the noisiest, most involved fans if my experience is any indication, and they certainly do not shy away from commenting. I don’t know how everyone feels, but I see that as a very, very positive thing even when I’m getting hollered at.

Emily Deschanel: I think it’s a positive thing too. It means that people care even if they disagree with something. I appreciate people caring so much. But Hart definitely has more experience with the fans directly than I do because he’s a tweeter. Twitters. He’s on Twitter.

Hart Hanson: Be careful there, Emily.

Emily Deschanel: He tweets. He’s twittering. Something. You get a direct line to the fans.

Q: How do you see the evolution of Brennan over the years?

Emily Deschanel: I think you’ve seen through the seasons Brennan opening up a lot more. She’s definitely had a hard time socially with people and knowing what to say and to be sensitive to other people’s feelings and where they’re coming from. That’s one reason why she chose science as a field. and she’s put up a lot of walls — because of being abandoned as a child and what she went through believing her parents were dead or missing as well as her brother leaving her.

I think that the walls are starting to come down. You even see at the end of the season she’s questioning her field — solving murders. It’s a pretty huge thing that she’s even thinking about that because it’s something she’s chosen to escape into. It’s mainly from her relationship with Booth who has opened her up and encouraged her to be more sociable. I guess a higher social intelligence. It was just fun to discover this character learning how to interact with people. I think she’s gotten better. She’s still the same person. She still has difficulty, but she’s making improvements for sure.

Q: Do you anticipate fan reaction to the season finale?

Bones Photos: David Boreanaz & Emily Deschanel Celebrate 100
Apr 25th, 2010 by Lynn DeVries

I just ran across these terrific photos of the cast and executives that bring us Bones. They apparently had a huge party the night before the 100th episode of the series aired. Wouldn’t that have been a fun and fabulous place to be that night? ;-)

Here are David Boreanaz & Emily Deschanel at the party. They both look very happy to be celebrating such a milestone!

Bones: Emily Deschanel on Ellen Show
Apr 8th, 2010 by Lynn DeVries

In case you missed yesterday’s guest appearance by Bones star Emily Deschanel on the Ellen Degeneres Show, I tracked down a video clip of it for you.

Emily was so cute. She came in dancing, as is the custom on the show, but then she announced that she’s a “very dorky dancer.” Thank goodness Ellen told her that no one judges. Dancing is about having fun. :-)

They talk about the 100th episode that airs tonight. (Hurray!) I love her description of the cake cutting celebration! And then they share their feelings about being vegan.

The big news is that the season finale will involve a case about a dead hoarder. Check this out:
